Get Grungy.

Being that I grew up in the 90s (I was an 80s baby), I got a full dose of 90s style right in my formative years. I’m talking burgundy corduroy overalls, fuzzy wizard-sleeve bell-neck sweaters (I had it in 2 colors!), holographic-ish daisy print baby tees (bought at Contempo Casuals, of course), platform flip-flops, JNCO jeans… the works!

But the one thing I never really wore was plaid. Oh, I imagine some might have snuck in there (I use to be a Curler- the sport- and plaid runs rampant in Curling clubs) but I certainly wasn’t “grunge” by any means.

So, am I making up for lost time now? Perhaps… I find myself drawn to plaid tops and a hell of a lot of black clothes lately, but I’m not about to jump in my Delorean and head back 20 years (omg, the 90s were TWENTY (plus or minus) YEARS AGO!?) to douse myself in H2T 90s nostalgia.

So, while I might be slipping a little grunge into my style now and then, don’t expect me to go full 90s. Never go full 90s.

Black, Out.

This dress makes me want to stand at attention and salute. Something about the high-neck collar, seaming details, and shiny gold buttons on an all black background subtly scream “military” at me. (Subtle screams are a thing, right?)

I don’t remember if it was rainy out, or if I was just having a noir mood day, but I went totally monochrome with my raven-hued ensemble. While I’m a color freak (I do love me some neon), sometimes I love wearing an entirely ebony outfit because it really highlights my flame-colored hair and I feel like a bad-ass cartoon superhero.

Just call me fashion woman! (No, that’s terrible.)

Call me P.S.! I may always be late, but I bring the fashion to people of all sizes and shapes! You too can have confidence and style and look good, thanks to the power of P.S.!

I’m boohooing in New Jersey!

But don’t worry, I’m not crying; boohoo is the best new fast-fashion company to hit the states! Their site is filled with all sorts of trendy goodies; from streetstyle wedge sneakers and candy-colored platform pumps, to edgy sunglasses and printed maxi dresses… they literally have it all and at fabulous prices (even menswear)! The only downside is that they only go up to a size 14 US, so my fellow full-figure fashionistas might be relegated to only shopping accessories and footwear for now. Don’t lose hope though, I’m wearing a US size 12 dress that they sent me in these photos and it fit great!

So hurry over and check out their sick stuff… before I snatch it all up myself!

I received a question recently:

Hey I need help with shoes!!!!! I don’t want the 2 inch grandma shoe I want couture, I want a fashionable head turning shoe. The thing is I wear an 11 or 12 and have wide feet.

Well, fortunately I recently wrote an article that was exactly about this for

Just call me Rainbow Bright.

While my favorite color might be black (it’s also my last name), I’m always drawn to vibrant hues- the brighter, the better! While my red hair is a guarantee that I’ll stand out in any crowd, I still like to assure that some part of my outfit will most likely make a fashion prude wince.

So, when I went off to the Lane Bryant flagship launch party, I knew that the place would be swarming with style bloggers and other fashion industry insiders… so I had to make sure I was representing my true style ethos.

I topped off my Lane Bryant vegan leather leggings (had to wear some LB, of course), with a mirrored floral tank and vibrant verdant contrast-sleeve blazer. You can only see a sliver of the Matt Bernson X DANNIJO collaboration booties, but these neon yellow, black and glitter back-zip heels are siiiiiiiiick.

The alligator (crocodile?) crystal necklace was a gift from my hubby (how well does he know me?), and is the perfect odd finishing touch to my already in-your-face outfit.

This is definitely an outfit I won’t be saying “See ya later, alligator” to.

Last Thursday I attended the Lane Bryant Flagship launch party. Thank the fashion gods that they’ve opened a store right in the heart of NYC! (There use to be one on 34th st a few years ago, but that’s been closed for a while). With the launch of the new flagship store comes the re-vamp of the brand as well; more trend-driven, fashion-forward styles, a younger voice and look, and an increase in the higher price point, higher-quality options within the Lane Collection.

I had a blast at the party; I met other style bloggers, like Marcy Guevara, interviewed Lane Bryant’s CMO Liz Crystal, singer/actress Carnie Wilson and television personality Jay Manuel, and enjoyed the beautiful store and clothes.

If you’re in NYC you’ve got to stop by the new store! It’s so inviting and modern, and they will have certain styles that will only be available at that specific location. So check it out, your wardrobe will thank you! (even if your wallet might be mad.)

(I will post a future article that details my outfit, so don’t worry!)

I’ve Got Mono Fever… Monochromatic, that is.

Monochromatic looks aren’t new; fashionistas are used to dressing H2T (Head-to-Toe) in a monochromatic color- black.

Instead of breaking up the boldness of your red pants with a black top, swap out the black for yet another swath of red. Make yourself into a human cherry.

Or in my case, a blueberry.

This post may have been written under the influence of too much caffeine or not enough.

I’ve had these blue suede shoes for a while now, and their electric color is always eye-catching. I typically pair them with a black dress during a job interview- I find having a pop of color on my feet helps me stick in the interviewer’s mind.

But imagine my excitement when I found pants that matches their pigmentation perfectly! And then a shirt that is their color twin (or triplet). And while the blazer doesn’t match in perfect hue, I think that since the other three items of my outfit are an exact shade match, the colors all complement each other enough.

Fashion people say the darndest things, don’t they? I was fortunate enough to cover New York Fashion Week this season for the amazing, fashion-forward website, I Like What You’re Wearing. While running around Lincoln Center, Milk Studios, the Piers, and countless other venues, I couldn’t help but put together a list of some of the most fashion-y things I overheard.
